The Icing And the Cake

“The icing in life is’nt anything with out the cake.” - dj kosuri

For the past 10 years of my life it has revolved around music.
Starting at an early age of industry influence/ practice/ mixed with
the personal discovery of creativity, I was basically born into a life
labled “artist”. Every artist that I have come into network with, all
understand the competative field that we are faced with and the dreams
we fixate in our brains like clockwork- all day everyday. Today I had
an epiphany and I would like to share it with each and everyone who
has a passion in life.

Imagine yourself in a bakery and you are faced with a variety of cakes
to choose from, this represents the foundation of your life/ the roots
of your personality and morals. Friends, family and those you surround
yourself with are the topings and this creates a proper representation
of YOU.

Now your passion is the icing. The rewards of satisfaction and bliss
come from this particular addition to the cake. This is where my story
begins:

For the past 2 and half years I suffer from Musician desease, all my
artist throw ya hands up! Basically, all i think about is music. Wake
up music, School and how it applys to music, everything around me I
immediately relate it to music. Now this is not wrong, matter of fact
its a beautiful thing; when it starts to become a sickness is when
nothing else around the icing.. matters anymore. I have been a very
selfish individual for a while now and why did I come to this
conclusion? Simply because I lost someone dear to me, someone who
cared, someone who wanted to be there.

I did not tend to my cake well and all I thought about was me me me
and my music. muSICK more like it. Long story short, I found myself
not caring about my education for its intial purpose, I hardly saw my
family and my relationships with my friends revolved around music. I
take examples from those with more experience then me and apply it to
my life and i refuse to be sad and frustrated- a martyr for music. If
i love the icing then the icing should love me back right? In life we
need a full cake filled with life and strong beliefs, structure and
organization. If we don’t have these things then that icing is worth
nothing. (proven through lonely depaired lives of artist and
entertainers) I am tired of going to a place out of town and not
enjoying my company and the food that i taste there because I am too
busy thinking about whether a show would be good there/ promotions. I
am an entrapaneur at heart and today I realized to maximize my profits
by utilizing my time wisely. No this does’nt mean do less work. No
this does’nt mean rocko is going to be less ambitious. What it means
is to work smarter and life fuller. The way to do this, I personaly
think is by creating opportunities with BIGGER IMPACT. With this I
would have the time and energy to attend to what really matters to me:
life

to be continued.
