Back to School
so the the new years have passed and goals have been set, yesterday was the first day of classes again. I got my back pack stuffed and my class schedule in my hand, I find myself thinking about the past of moms buying me new shoes and standing in line for the yearly school supplies. Times has changed and responsibility has increased– I find myself walking in the path with my future in my hands. Well into a marketing degree, I walk into my classes with a hunger for knowledge and take a look at the new faces– a new room full of contacts and networks.
The Middlemen Army being a networking organization, communication is my speciality. Marketing being my major, I sit there for the first 5 minites wondering why everyone is soo quiet and seem soo nervous. Is it that no one wants to be there or is it ironic for me to say a room full of marketing majors lacking communication skills. This is what i want to discuss.
College to me is a place packed with future workers of society, do yourself a favor and MEET THE FUTURE. So I blurt out the question, “How was everyones New years?” and introduce myself to the group that sits next to me. Before you know it everyone is conversating and the classroom is much more lively.
In a nutshell, we as human beings have a element of comfort and when we are faced with a situation where we are surrounded by people we do not know we are on defense naturally. Everyone is a middleman in life, and you never know who you’ll meet– a new friend, buisness partner, “hookup”, or even a new significant other. 08 is fresh and the more connected you are the better off you’ll be.
step outside of your element ladies and gents. Before you know it, you’ll find it almost second nature and more opportunies will come knocking at your door.
